Door check-in
Sidedoor turns any phone or tablet into a door scanner. Guests carry a QR code for their booking; you scan it to check them in. It’s the fastest way to work a busy door and keeps your bookings and reservations up to date automatically.
Opening the scanner
Section titled “Opening the scanner”A QR check-in button (a floating action button) is available in the portal. Tap it to open the camera scanner. Point it at the guest’s booking QR code to read it.
Checking a guest in
Section titled “Checking a guest in”-
Open the QR check-in scanner.
-
Scan the guest’s booking QR code. Sidedoor looks up the booking.
-
If the booking is approved, confirm to check them in. The booking moves from approved to checked_in.
The guest can get a “You’re in” notification, and the check-in shows up immediately on your Bookings list and Reservations grid.
Rejecting at the door
Section titled “Rejecting at the door”Sometimes you need to turn someone away on the night - capacity, dress code, or the booking doesn’t match. From the scan result you can reject at the door:
-
Scan the booking and choose to reject.
-
Select a reason for the rejection.
-
If a payment or deposit was taken, issue a refund as part of the rejection.
A door rejection sets the booking’s status to door_rejected, distinct from a pre-arrival rejected, so your history clearly shows what happened at the door.
