Payments

Sidedoor keeps your cards ready so booking is quick, and your payment history in one place so you can always see what’s happened.

Under Profile → Payment methods you can manage how you pay:

  • Saved cards show as “Brand ···· last4” with the expiry date.
  • Set any card as your Default, or Remove cards you no longer use.
  • Pay with a device wallet - Apple Pay or Google Pay - where your device supports it.

To add a card, choose Add a card and enter your details securely. It’s then ready to use for bookings, vouchers, keys and membership.

Under Profile → Payment History you’ll find a record of every transaction, labelled by what it was for - for example Keys top-up, Booking deposit, Event ticket, Queue skip, Premium membership, Refund or Voucher.

Each entry carries a status:

Status Meaning
Held An amount is set aside on your card but not yet taken.
Released A previously held amount has been let go - nothing was taken.
Refunded An amount that was taken has been returned to you.

It helps to know the difference between the two ways a venue can secure your booking:

  • A card hold authorises an amount on your card but doesn’t take the money. The funds are simply set aside. If you turn up (or cancel in time), the hold is released and nothing is charged. You’ll see the wording “authorise… funds aren’t taken now” when a hold applies.
  • A deposit is an amount put towards your booking. On your booking’s detail page you can see whether the deposit is held, charged or released.

Event tickets, vouchers and key top-ups are paid in full at the time you buy them. Table bookings usually use a deposit or hold. Whichever applies, you can always choose which saved card or wallet to use at checkout.
